Game idea for quickrate

Backend details are on the QuickRate Architecture page.

Goals

  • Create a platform for people to add ratings to our system about preformed reviews (quoted from outside sources.)
  • Easy to use without instruction.
  • Should take advantage of the iphone's neet motion sensing mechanism.
  • Easy to draw attention.
  • Fun to be involved with and interesting to show other people.
  • Gives people opportunity to get more deeply involved.

Inspiration

  • See 'n Say. The pull string toy that plays animal voices as you spin it around. it's instant gratification and a technology with an enjoyable user experience (like the tilting of the iphone as a user experience.)
  • Iphone lightsaber and restaurant review guide.

Gameplay

Each time someone rates they select a dimension. There's a different sound and brief cartoon image flash for each different interest that you scroll past.

then as someone chooses the appropriate rating (one the iphone they just tilt their phone: online they used the mouse) each one blinks past quickly. As they blink past the play a super short burst of a sound and an image specific to that rating for that interest.

then when they select a rating there's an animation that plays. like a swirling genie or a "finish him" mortal combat ending.

then a screen pops up with an animation of a guy with a measuring tape. Measure twice cut once is the theme: "Are you sure you want to give {company name} the rating of {number}?" and a tiny short version of the animation plays again.

the options for that screen are: Yes (just shaking it is a yes and I'd like to do another one), no do this again, no: skip this review, yes: and I'd like to do another one, yes, and I'd like to learn more about this. etc.

You get points for completed reviews like normal quickrate. And when you've done a couple it prompts you to "save your score" by registering for an account.

Scenarios for Various Interests

Climate Change Contribution: environmental catastrophy game: polar bears are either floating on alone icebergs or growling with enthusiasm. Tornados. Windmills, solar collectors, thermometers in the red,
