This is what the MIT Entrepreneurs club looks like from the perspective of a guest presenter.
Big thanks to Eve Sullivan of Parent’s Forum for getting us in touch with the E-club.
Fritz Knabe took notes on my flow while I presented our service in
power point slides. Richard Shyduroff and the students, alumni, and staff present were an excellent sounding board and offered helpful feedback about our project. Richard went as far as to suggest that he’d introduce us to some influential people who raise cows up north. I’ll have to call him on that one day.
In a prior E-seminar they were much tougher. At the seminar, recent graduates were skeptical that amateur ratings could be helpful in rating for corporate practices. My response to this concern is always to explain that we’ll be excepting expert content as well as amateur content. Eventually we’ll also be asking reviewers to mark their specific expertise about any review (whether they’re a current employee of a company, a student, a journalist, etc.) and then allow users to decide what kinds of expertise they trust most. Until then, I refer people to The Wisdom of the Crowds for an excellent discussion of the power of accumulated amateur opinion. So if you’re thinking of presenting to the MIT E-club, I recommend presenting to the as well.
