I appreciate Luke’s real world grounding and tackling of the problem domain. His questions on the kinds of relationships between companies, behaviors, events and observations are relevant. On the other hand, he is lengthening the design process impractically. It does not help that he is falling behind on the implementation because of inconsistent attendance, or that he hacked up a ruby prototype instead of learning python and django like the rest of the team. Socially responsible consumerism is a subject he has also been thinking about for some time; being committed to other jobs is obviously frustrating for him. I can relate. I moved starting my new job to mid-August. I hope I finish my thesis before the end-of-summer deadline.

Team

The Sunday meetings are going strong. We have met over over yogurt, bread and peanut butter, pizza, Mary Chung’s and Indian food. Some people who were originally interested have found other commitments, while others have taken their places.

Sam, busy with an internship, is quick enough to keep up with HuginMunin progress and complete his tasks. Luke, busy with two other jobs, is nonetheless passionate about the design. Ale, busy with Math research, is doing great work developing the django models.

We have decided to use a flexible graph model underneath for the corporate supply chain. The goal is to respond quickly to user feedback in the initial prototype. The real pleasure in working with Ale, in addition to his commitment, are the omnigraffle diagrams and wiki definitions he maintains. If he left the group today, we could continue where he left off. Plus, it is easier for both us to stay involved in each other’s progress.
